Who we are
ButteredHost (www.butteredhost.com) are a UK based web development and digital services company. We are a remote working team, the majority of whom are based in Scotland, UK.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We collect only the absolute minimum personal data from our site visitors through our contact form and we never sell, lease or give your personal details to anyone else. Our website resides on a full GDP compliant UK server.
Personal data is not just created by a user’s interactions with your site. Personal data is also generated from technical processes such as contact forms, comments, cookies, analytics, and third party embeds.
We collect your name, email address and any message you send us solely for the purposes of fulfilling your enquiry. We will not use these for marketing purposes without your permission, which permission can be withdrawn at any time.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
This site utilizes caching in order to facilitate a faster response time and better user experience. Caching potentially stores a duplicate copy of every web page that is on display on this site. All cache files are temporary, and are never accessed by any third party, except as necessary to obtain technical support from the cache plugin vendor. Cache files expire on a schedule set by the site administrator, but may easily be purged by the admin before their natural expiration, if necessary.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
By default WordPress does not collect any analytics data. However, many web hosting accounts collect some anonymous analytics data. You may also have installed a WordPress plugin that provides analytics services. In that case, add information from that plugin here.
Who we share your data with
No-one – not even our mum!
How long we retain your data
We keep enquiry details for 6 months and customer records, including purchases, for up to 10 years from the last point of contact.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
We typically store your personal information on servers located within the European Economic Area (“EEA”). However, if we need to transfer it outside of the EEA (e.g. because one of our sub-contractors is located in a non-EEA country), we will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that any personal data transferred is treated securely and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Our Data Protection Officer, is Gill Wilson and if you have any queries you should contact her at email@example.com
